As reported, during angioplasty of the superficial femoral artery, an advance 35 lp low profile balloon catheter ruptured upon the first inflation. The balloon was inflated with an unknown inflation device and unknown contrast to four-to-six atmospheres for two-to-three seconds.Upon deflation, the balloon ruptured and was then removed by itself. An unknown sheath was used during the procedure. There was no reported angulation or tortuosity; however, vessel calcification was reported. The procedure was completed with another device of the same type.A section of the device did not remain inside the patient¿s body. The patient did not require any additional procedures due to this occurrence.According to the initial reporter, the patient did not experience any adverse effects due to this occurrence.
